Attendance
Every day at Karoo PS counts! Regular school attendance enables students to maximise their full educational potential. Consistent learning provides building blocks for each and every students’ future. Attending school every day ensures students have opportunities to engage in consistent learning, and develop important communication and social skills.
To support student attendance classrooms at Karoo PS open at 8:50am each morning, so that students can ensure they can check in with their teacher and organise themselves prior to learning commencing at 9am.
KPS Approach to Student Wellbeing

Absent from school
Being at school everyday is expected. However, if your child is unwell, then they need to stay home to get better.
Compass
If your child is unwell and away from school, you will need to log into Compass to mark their absence and to record the reason why. If you need support, please contact the office.
Follow Up
If your child is frequently absent, or regularly arrives late or leaves early, then their teacher may make contact with you. If required, the school will work with you to put supports in place to improve your child’s attendance.
Attendance Plans
If your child is consistently absent from school their classroom teacher and the Wellbeing Leader will be in contact to develop an Attendance Plan to support attendance improvement.
