Our school zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school. Your school zone is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their local school. Students may enrol at another school if there are available places.

2027 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

All government primary schools  follow the statewide Foundatioan (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian Government primary school, such as Karoo Primary School. 

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2027 at Karoo PS from Monday 20th April 2026  (using the ‘Apply to our School for Foundation 2027’ link below).  For more information on how to register and submit, click on the video link below or the Quick Reference Guide.

Our school uses an the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system call VicStudents. This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you ahve any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school.

What you need to do:

1. Contact our school (via the booking sheet or call 9759 6222) to book a school tour or to learn more about our school and the enrolment application process.
2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available by 20 April 2026). This pack includes guiance on the application process.
3. Submit an online enrolment application (through the online VicStudents portal)  for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 31st July 2026.
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3rd August and Friday 14th August 2025.
5. If you receive an enrolment offer from our school, simply log back in to VicStudents and follow the prompts to accept the offer by Friday 28th August 2026.
6. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.
7. Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Thursday 28 January 2026.

   Enrolment applications submitted after 31st July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

2026  Enrolments in Year 1-6

We also accept enrolment applications for students in other year levels. You can submit a request at any time in the school year.

Eligible students who live within our school zone are guaranteed a place, while students outside the zone may be enrolled if there are available places.

Enrolling at Karoo is a simple three step process:

1. Collect an Enrolment form

• Forms can be downloaded by clicking the link (on the right of this screen).
• Hard copies can be collected from the school office or mailed to you upon request.
• An electronic copy can be emailed upon request.

2. Complete the Enrolment form in full, and return it to the school 

• All sections much be completed and declaration signed.
• If a student has a specific medical condition, further medical forms may need to be completed on commencing school (eg asthma, allergies)

3. Provide supplementary documents

• Proof of your child’s age and full name (birth certificate or passport)
• Immunisation Status Certificate

Once you have submitted your Enrolment form to the school, you will be notified of your acceptance via email.

School Tours 2026

School tours provide parents an ideal opportunity to see first hand our students in their learning environment, the beautiful buildings and grounds we have to offer, and get a feel for what it would be like for your child to be a part of the Karoo community. Bookings are essential for all tours.

In 2026 our tours run on :

– Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:30am from March to August.

– Saturday tours will run at 3:00pm on 28th March, 23rd May, 20th June, 1st August and 5th September.
